Please check out my tour dates. I hope to see you all while I’m on the road promoting I Can’t Remember if I Cried. The tour locations read like that of a literary fiction superstar, not a first-time nonfiction author. It’s thrilling!
I’m so excited to be visiting some of my favorite indie bookstores. For many years, I worked for a group of some of the best independent booksellers in the country. Becoming involved in bookselling, especially during the early days of online sales and chain store competition, was a unique experience. I often wondered why I had ended up working in that business. Of course, as a writer and book-lover, it was a special place to be, and the people I worked with and for were just the best humans. After Kevin became ill and I had to request schedule flexibility, they were always accommodating; more than that, they were caring and helpful. Little did I know when I was wondering how I ended up there, that it was the best place for me to be.
And now that I have a book in the world, the thought of being able to reconnect with several of them makes me so happy! Seeing my book “in the wild” on their shelves will be an awesome experience. Way back, when I was a young adult wanting to be a writer, I always imagined myself as a journalist, working at a daily or monthly publication. Writing a whole book was never in my thinking until I was in that world of publishing and bookselling and those thoughts shifted. It’s been a strange, sometimes painful, and winding road to book publication, but when I consider the journey, much of what I was doing seems to have led me to exactly where I am.
I’d love to create a list of must-have books to pick up while I’m traveling. Please let me know your current favorites!
